Rib Cartilage Rhinoplasty

Rib cartilage rhinoplasty is a type of nose surgery in which the patient’s own rib cartilage is used to shape the nose from the base to the tip. This surgery can be done using only the natural rib cartilage, or it can be done using both the natural rib cartilage and a silicone implant.

Rib cartilage used to be used for revision rhinoplasty on people with very short noses caused by repeated revision rhinoplasty and infection.

But these days, rib cartilage rhinoplasty is done not only to make the nose taller, longer, and the tip stick out more, but also to make the face look more balanced and in harmony.

Therefore, after rhinoplasty rib cartilage, mouth protrusion will be corrected and large cheekbone and jawline will be improved.

Rib Cartilage Rhinoplasty Results

The results of rhinoplasty could change your life, but you should know what to expect before getting one. The goal is to get better, not necessarily to be perfect. It’s crucial to understand that your nose will continue to age and alter even after surgery. Speak with your surgeon about how your look and self-confidence may change before having a nose operation.

During a nose job, a cut is performed either within or outside of your nose. You will either get a nerve block (regional anesthetic) or a general anesthetic when you have surgery. A cut is created on the inside or outside of your nose during the surgery. Your doctor will remove a portion of the cartilage in your nose and replace it with other cartilage, often from within your nose. Your nose’s shape will alter as a result.

You’re an important part of the team that takes care of your health. What you do before surgery can have a big effect on how well it goes.

 What Is  Rhinoplasty?

Give a detailed account of your health history and the medicines you take. This includes both prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal treatments. Keep a list of your medicines, health problems, and allergies with you at all times.

Test as instructed before surgery. Testing will be different for each person based on their age, health, and the method used. Before surgery, you may need to get a chest X-ray, have blood tests, and/or do other things.
With the help of a healthy diet and regular exercise, people can lose weight before surgery. As told, you don’t eat or drink before surgery. If you eat or drink too soon before your surgery, your surgeon might have to put it off because you could choke while you are under general anesthesia.
Don’t smoke as soon as you can. Even if you only stop for a few days, you can feel and get better. This could mean not taking aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), or other medicines that thin the blood.

What Can You Expect From Rhinoplasty?

Most people who have a rhinoplasty spend an hour or two at the hospital, surgery center, or surgeon’s office. Your care team will let you go home when you are awake, breathing normally, and your vital signs, like blood pressure and pulse, are stable. If a tube was put into your windpipe during surgery, it could hurt your throat. Most of the time, this is just a temporary problem, but if it hurts, tell your care team.

How Much Is Rhinoplasty?

You will need a friend or family member to drive you home after surgery because the sedative or anesthetic could still be making you tired. When you wake up after a rhinoplasty, you may have a plastic or metal splint on the outside of your nose. For a short time, the splint will help keep the new shape of the nose stable and in place. Your nose may also get nasal packs or soft splints to hold the bones and cartilage in place and stop bleeding. Your surgeon will take off the splints and nasal packs three to seven days after the surgery.

 Rhinoplasty Aftercare

After a rhinoplasty, your face and nose will probably be bruised and swollen. The bumps should get better in a couple of weeks.
It takes time to get better after surgery. How long it takes to heal after rhinoplasty depends on the type of surgery you have, your overall health, your age, and other things. The process of getting better could take weeks or months. It could take up to a year for all the swelling to go down and your nose’s real shape to show.
Pain management is very important for quick healing and recovery. Your surgery will make you feel bad. Your doctor and care team will take care of your pain so that you can feel better and get the rest you need. Talk to your doctor if your pain gets worse or changes. This can indicate an issue.

After rhinoplasty, it’s very important to keep your follow-up appointments. If you have questions or concerns between visits, call your doctor. After surgery, most people have a short period of low-grade fever (less than 101 degrees Fahrenheit). Most of the time, this is not a sign of an infection after surgery. But you should follow your doctor’s advice about when to tell him or her about a fever.
