DHI Transplant Procedure
DHI clinics across Turkey almost follow the same procedure while hair transplant. However, the difference lies between the equipment used and expertise of the surgeon.
Further, results are dependent on pre, post and during procedure care. This is only possible at our clinic, Aslı Tarcan, in Turkey as we offer the best hair transplant in Istanbul.
Generally, DHI procedure does not require full head shaving, cases involving over 2000 grafts may require a full shave. This will help maneuvering the Choi pen easier and getting a better angle on the shaved area.
Here are common steps involved in the DHI hair restoration process.
Step 1: Consultation & Preparation
It is important to consult our hair surgeon to establish expectations and possible solution for long-term benefits. Moreover, it will also clear any doubts in your mind regarding the DHI technique.
Once your candidacy is confirmed, our experts will prepare you for the transplant by trimming hair from the donor area. After which, the surgical team will administer anesthesia in the frontal and occipital parts of your scalp
A specialized tool known as the tweezer is used for extraction purposes. Depending on the donor site area, which are generally the back and sides of the head, surgeons will extract the desired amount of grafts.
Hair follicles are extracted one at a time with a punch tool from the Hippocratic crown (occipital area), a place genetically programmed never allowing hair to fall out.
Step 3: Recipient Site Creation
In this step of transplant surgery, the surgeon would prepare the recipient site by using a Choi implanter pen. This pen is capable of preparing the site and implanting follicles simultaneously.
Step 4: Implantation
Follicles are implanted into the scalp at angle that will mimic natural growth. Surgeons use a blunt punch to make 0.6mm to 0.9mm incisions having a depth of about 2.5mm to 3.0mm.
Likewise, on average 1-4 hairs per follicle are used for better results, helping you achieve longer hair.
Step 5: Completion
Typically, each 100 to 200 units will take 15 to minutes for implantation. Thus, the entire process consumes around 6 to 8 hours and is painless.
Our surgeon would complete the DHI procedure, and advise you post-op care instructions. You will also get a growth chart to monitor your progress.
