Rhinoplasty Septoplasty

Rhinoplasty Septoplasty If you don’t like how your nose looks or how it works, comparing rhinoplasty septoplasty might help you decide what to do. Even though both procedures are done to fix problems with the nose, their goals may be very different. Both surgeries are done by doctors to help their patients feel better about themselves and improve their quality of life. Before you choose between rhinoplasty and septoplasty to fix your nose, you should know the difference between the two.

Septoplasty and rhinoplasty are both medical procedures that can only be done by a trained surgeon. Either a general anesthetic or a local one must be used.

Septorhinoplasty is a surgery that does both of these things at the same time. During the same procedure, the doctor changes how the nose looks and fixes a septum that isn’t straight.

Rhinoplasty Septoplasty Differences

If you aren’t sure if rhinoplasty or septoplasty is better for you, make an appointment with your surgeon, who should be a double board-certified face plastic surgeon with a lot of knowledge and experience in nasal surgery. If you have a crooked nose and a deviated septum that makes it hard to breathe, a septoplasty with rhinoplasty-like features can fix both how your nose works and how it looks. The main goal of a septoplasty is to fix a deviated septum while keeping the outside shape of the nose. But it’s important to know that since the patient is already getting surgery, a septoplasty could be a good time to fix a big or bulbous nasal tip, a dorsal hump, or other cosmetic problems.

Whether you get a septoplasty, a rhinoplasty, or both, you should be ready to take time off work while your body heals and gets better. Most sick people miss five to seven days of work. After a rhinoplasty, you may have some swelling for the first six to twelve months. But after a few weeks, most of it goes away. Splints and stitches can be put in the nose after treatment, but they are usually taken out a week later.

What’s Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is a surgery that changes the size and shape of the nose. It also changes the way their noses are shaped so that they look more even. Rhinoplasty might be your best option if your nose isn’t symmetrical, has a bump or depression on the bridge, has a big or drooping tip, or if your nostrils are too big or too wide.

You and your doctor can decide together whether the rhinoplasty will be open or closed. An open surgery will leave a small scar on your columella, the bridge of tissue between your nostrils. Scars aren’t bad, and once the skin has healed, they usually fade into a thin line that can’t be seen. After a closed rhinoplasty, there are no cuts on the outside of the nose. It may not be the best choice for everyone, though.
Every rhinoplasty is different, and the surgeon will make sure that yours is right for you. This is because every person has different concerns about how they look. During different treatments, cartilage grafts from the nose, ear, or even a rib may be used.

What’s Septoplasty?

Septoplasty is a type of surgery that straightens out a deviated or crooked septum or fixes other problems with how the nose works. A deviated septum can be caused by an old nose injury or happen later in life. If you have trouble breathing out of one or both nostrils or have hurt your nose in a way that makes it hard to breathe, you may be a good candidate for a septoplasty to straighten your deviated septum and improve your breathing.

Either a closed surgery or an open surgery can be used to do a septoplasty. It depends on how bad your septal deviation is. In a closed surgery, a small cut is made in the inside of the nose (the mucosa) to get to the cartilage and bone of the septum. The septum can then be moved, trimmed, or taken out in part. It depends on what needs each person has.

Most of the time, both surgeries can be done with general anesthesia. But if your nose only needs minor work, you and your doctor may decide to use a local anesthetic and intravenous sedation instead. Also, you don’t have to stay in the hospital for either of these procedures. So you can go home the same day. Most of the time, both surgeries take less than three hours. But how long it takes depends on how many things need to be fixed.
The best way to deal with your problems will be decided by you and your surgeon together. He or she will be able to answer all of your questions about either surgery. So you know what to expect and can feel good about the care you’ll get.
